The Behringer JT-2 is a compact paraphonic analogue synthesiser that draws clear inspiration from the Roland Jupiter-8, translating that classic sonic character into a more accessible, modern format. Its design suits both studio use and live performance, with essential controls—such as master volume and tuning—kept within easy reach on the front panel. A dedicated front-panel MIDI input simplifies setup, allowing quick integration into performance rigs without additional routing.

In terms of connectivity, the JT-2 strikes a balance between traditional and modular workflows. It offers a focused selection of patch points, including gate in, pitch CV in, sync in, and filter out, along with a headphone output for monitoring. While the patch bay is not exhaustive, it provides enough flexibility for meaningful interaction with Eurorack systems, supporting creative modulation and signal routing without overcomplicating the interface.

Around the back, the layout remains straightforward and practical. A standard 6.3mm audio output handles signal routing to mixers or interfaces, while MIDI thru and USB connectivity broaden its compatibility with modern production environments. This combination makes it easy to integrate the JT-2 into DAW-based setups as well as more traditional hardware chains.

At its core, the JT-2 is about delivering familiar analogue warmth with a streamlined approach to control. Its paraphonic engine allows multiple notes to be played simultaneously, creating dense chords and layered textures without the complexity of a fully polyphonic design. The result is an instrument that feels both immediate and expressive, equally suited to experienced synthesists and those exploring paraphonic synthesis for the first time.

FEATURES

  • An analogue synth module based on the early-’80s Jupiter-style model

  • Authentic analogue signal path based on classic VCO, VCF, and VCA designs

  • 2 VCOs, reinforced by multiple Waveform options, as well as Pulse Width Mod and Frequency Mod controls

  • LFO and Envelope control of both VCOs gives rise to complex sounds using Cross Mod and oscillator Sync

  • 12dB/24dB Slope switch leverages the legendary Jupiter-style resonating LPF to re-create the classic textures of yesteryear
