Intonation Basics is a supplementary method designed to guide students and orchestras towards development of superb intonation. Author Jeremy Woolstenhulme shares a wealth of tips throughout the Teacher's Edition, starting with establishing good posture, selecting solid open string tuning procedures, working on vertical format tuning with drone pitches, learning to blend as an ensemble, and more. The book supports Woolstenhulme's pedagogy with a wealth of technical exercises and classical melodies specially prepared as rounds, duets, trios, quartets, and orchestra arrangements. Intonation Basics also includes access to 20 instructional videos demonstrating technique and ways to achieve good intonation. Although primarily designed for second year players and beyond, there are concepts and exercises that are quite appropriate for 1st year orchestras in their second semester.
