One Track Mind
For the first time, your signal chain, levels, and sends live directly inside the sequencer within the new Track Panel, allowing you to manage your sound without ever switching views. Open the Rack directly from the panel to browse new patches, visualize signal splits, and tweak your devices exactly where you're working. It's a fundamentally new, track-centric workflow that stays out of your way when you don't need it, and gives you total control when you do.

The Reason sequencer has received a major update to keep your music-making on track, literally. With Track Folders, smarter clips, and a more intuitive piano roll, the whole sequencer moves faster, while your arrangement looks as organized as it sounds.

Everything sounds better when it's pitched black
Reason 14 now defaults to Dark Mode across the entire DAW. Whether you're arranging in the sequencer or riding faders in the Mixer, the interface stays consistent with your theme settings. And to keep you moving fast in the dark, we've added brand new navigation buttons for the Track Panel, Edit Area, Groove Mixer, and more. No more eye strain, and no more searching for tools. Just a clean, focused environment that lets your music take center stage.

Reason 14 brings the small improvements that make a big difference. Automatic tempo detection on import and MIDI note chase keep everything moving, so your ideas stay in focus. No friction. No distractions. Just pure momentum.

Reverb That's Out Of This World
RV-9 Reverb Station is the successor to the legendary RV7000, rebuilt with nine new algorithms that range from realistic rooms to infinite, experimental soundscapes. Dive into fluttering granular textures, sculpt frequency and resonance with spectral reverb, or smear delays into lush atmospheres with Echoverb. Shape the space, or just let it breathe.

Fresh fuel for your sound
A major upgrade deserves a major sonic expansion. We've added over 900 new drum samples, 50 fresh Europa patches, and 20 new impulse responses for the RV7000. Everything you need to kickstart your next idea the moment you open the Rack.

What is the Rack?
The Rack is the core of Reason. Filled to the brim with unique devices, it's where you set up your dream studio. Just like a real hardware rack, everything is right there ready to be tweaked. Whether you just want to play a great-sounding piano or design a complex generative sound system, the Reason Rack is where the music happens.

Reason everywhere
Bring the Rack to your favorite DAW as a VST3, AU, or AAX plugin, or use Reason as standalone music making software. Take the best patches from Reason into Ableton Live, add a rack of instruments to Pro Tools, or expand your channel strips in Logic. However you make music, the Rack's there for you.

Sound Like You
Start with an instrument or load up a patch from the thousands included in Reason. Drag in effects to mold your sound. Add a Player MIDI effect to transform your playing or to start new ideas. Experimentation in the Rack is fun and fast—just drop in new stuff and hear what happens.

Flip The Rack
Scary to some and strangely irresistible to others, the back of Reason's Rack is where you can go full modular with free routing of audio and control voltage. Control synth filters from envelope followers, pan with LFOs, or split up an audio signal for parallel processing.

Everything is automatically connected for you in a logical top-to-bottom flow, but you're free to break the rules. Don't worry if this feels confusing—you can make music in Reason without ever flipping to the back of the Rack. (But we really think you should try it.)

  From studio staples to creative sound mangling, Reason’s effects can shape your sound the way you want.
• Utilities
  Not the flashiest but very useful, utilities are here to help you route and modulate your way around the Reason Rack.
• The Combinator
  The most popular device in Reason is one you might not even realize that you're using. The Combinator combines multiple devices into self-contained patches that are found all throughout Reason's sound bank and Sound Packs. Design your own front panel—adding knobs, faders, and buttons to build your own Rack device powered by Reason's synths and effects. Assign the controls to whatever parameters you want and save your new Combinator for use whenever, wherever.

Rack Extensions
Rack Extensions expand Reason with whatever your music needs today. And tomorrow. They're fully integrated with audio and CV cables, native undo, one browser, and one way to download and update. If a new OS version or architecture rolls around, your Rack Extensions will continue to work. With hundreds of devices available in the Shop, from indie developers to well-known brands, you can always expand your Reason Rack with new gear.

Audio Editing
A smooth and intuitive editing system is crucial for the details that can make or break a track, so we take this part of the DAW just as seriously as anything else.

Need to nail a tricky performance? Comp Edit stitches multiple takes into a perfect one, and you can record first and pick a tempo later with project-wide time stretch. Correct timing with Slice Edit and fix vocals with Vocal Edit for detailed control over pitch, time, and articulation. And most importantly, it sounds good!

Mixer
Accurately modeled after the famous SSL 9000k* analog mixing desk, Reason's mixer works just like the real thing. Complete with flexible routing, full dynamics, EQ, advanced effects handling, automation, group and parallel channels, and the famous master-bus compressor. If the best studios in the world have it, why shouldn't you?

Sampling
All samplers in Reason are actually samplers. Hit the sample button and start recording straight into the selected instrument, bringing the lost art of on-the-fly sampling back again. So it's time to dig out your toy keyboards, weird percussion, and vinyl collection to give them new life inside Reason.

Blocks
Intro, verse, chorus, bridge—if that's how you think about your music then Blocks will help you build your song. Create your parts as Blocks and arrange them into a musical structure. With the basic arrangement laid out you can easily create variations, mute individual parts, or add further musical elements on top.

Patches, Packs, Patterns
No music without sounds. Reason comes with a huge sound bank of more than 30 000 patches, loops, and samples that are categorized and tagged for fast exploration. From in style, to out of style, to back in style—Reason’s library consists of over 20 years of world-class sounds.
