The idea behind Amped Elektra
While strolling through a studio, equipped with vintage e-pianos, Sebastian Breiter, sound designer at Steinberg, came across the Hohner Electra and fell in love with its unique, unheard-of, sonorous and musical sound. The Hohner Electra was built in the ’70s and is sonically related to the Wurlitzer and Rhodes, with bands like Led Zeppelin using it for their recordings. It is an insider tip and is now experiencing its rebirth through the Amped Elektra. The Electra’s DI signal was not only recorded at the YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! Studios in Hamburg, but was also sent through three vintage tube amps, giving the Amped Elektra an even more soulful, warm and characterful sound.
Chord Pads
The Amped Elektra comes with an amazing selection of chord pads for HALion. Each preset includes sound matching chords which will give you instant sparks for chord progressions and song ideas. You can also assign a trigger note for each chord pad and play the chords with one note.
Original sound or reamped
You can choose between the original sound of the instrument or mix it with the reamped signal of three vintage amps from the ’50s and ’70s.
Included effects
On the effects page you can choose from a huge variety of effects that you can add to your instrument. You can choose between EQ, Tremolo, Distortion, Reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Compressor, Delay, Ring Modulator and Auto Wah. The order of the effects can also be customized.
Customized reverb
The reverb effect comes with custom-recorded impulse responses for springs, chambers and plates. The impulse responses were recorded with classical units like the Lexicon 224 in the YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! Studios.
The three recorded amps
-
The Tower
The Tower, an extremely rare vintage tube amp from the '50s with an incredibly voluminous, warm sound, recorded with a sennheiser MD 411. -
Ampeg V4
The '70s tube amp Ampeg V4, recorded with a Neumann small diaphragm tube microphone. -
Fender Twin Reverb
An original Fender Twin Reverb from the '70s, with a crispy sound recorded with the Neumann small-diaphragm tube microphone.
Customized impulse responses
The additional impulse responses for the Amped Elektra were created with specially selected vintage gear to add some extra character on the reverb section. So, you can use chamber, spring or plate reverbs designed with the help of classical units like the EMT 240 “Goldfolie”, a beautiful Lexicon 224, the AKG BX5 or the Roland Chorus Echo RE-501.
