The Warm Audio Fen-tone™ is inspired by a classic 50s ribbon mic built with upgraded, modern components to deliver iconic tones. Like the original B&O design, the Warm Audio Fen-tone recreates the compact, pencil-style design with ventilated sides that can easily be placed in crowded recording environments. Unlike the original, Fen-tone features modern upgrades including a custom Japanese ribbon, rare-earth Neodymium magnet, and CineMag USA transformer to deliver the iconic ribbon tones made popular in contemporary music on electric guitars, overheads, horns, and many more sources. Fen-tone adds an all-analog 26 dB JFET in-line preamp, allowing for active use - a critical feature for using ribbons directly with underpowered interface preamps.

• Tailor-Made For Guitar, & More: Fen-tone excels on loud sources that require detail while handling high SPLs, like electric guitar cabs, overheads, and horns. The upgraded components in Fen-tone deliver intricate midrange detail that helps guitars shine in dense mixes. 

• Selectable All-Analog 26 dB In-Line Warm Lifter Active Preamp: Fen-tone has a selectable, 26dB in-line discrete 5k Ohm high-impedance JFET Warm Lifter circuit onboard, making it easy to plug directly into audio interfaces or inferior preamps without volume, tone, and frequency loss.

• Figure-8 Polar Pattern: Fen-tone has a figure-8 polar pattern which helps eliminate side-address noise when recording. That means that Fen-tone will pick up what is directly in front of it and behind it. This feature is great for recording two acoustic instrumentalists facing each other, playing into either side of the mic without picking up as much bleed as other microphone designs.
